পিএলআইডি (PLID) বা স্লিপ ডিস্ক বর্তমানে একটি অত্যন্ত সাধারণ কিন্তু কষ্টদায়ক মেরুদণ্ডজনিত সমস্যা। এক সময় এই সমস্যার চিকিৎসায় বড় ধরনের কাটাছেঁড়া করে ওপেন সার্জারি করা হতো, যার ফলে রোগীকে দীর্ঘদিন হাসপাতালে থাকতে হতো এবং সুস্থ হতে সময় লাগত।
